Samana Benedetti on A Golden Civilization

By Samana Benedetti

Having been a vipassina student of George’s for over 23 years, I discovered a parallel to the time he entered my path and the impact his values had on every aspect of my life.

How I showed up in the world with purpose and specificity in my personal and professional life.

By living intentionally, not with perfection yet with allowance and insights, I have found my inner world truly does reflect my outer world.

As the political atmosphere and now the virus dominate our daily existence, I have found a variety of ways to maintain equilibrium and to adapt:

Life truly is an opportunity to live our highest ideals.

Being aware of the breath throughout the day while I am reading articles that could potentially create fear and anger I have found to be my greatest resource. And when I forget and focus exclusively on what I am reading, I quickly notice the tightness in my body and my mind wanting it to be different.

These are reasonable responses to chaos. It is our duty to stand in our power with mindfulness to speak up and inform the ignorant, and gently cast our light on the prideful to expose their shadows.

This world is what we as a conscious or unconscious collective create. To live in a Golden Civilization we must tip the scales to the side of the conscious collective and make a definitive choice by moving into our unique and ever-so-potent authority.

A counseling client said in distress, “Everywhere we look the planet is getting darker and unrecognizable; it feels hopeless. The good people are outnumbered.”

Automatically I said, “We may be fewer yet we are brighter and more powerful with consciousness. It is our task to shine bright and be seen as a great force throughout the planet to protect and guide the many who have forgotten.” Our power is in the collective and unwavering truth.

With deep gratitude for George & Kathy and all of their enthusiastic perseverance,
